Every registered domain has no less than 2 Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain address to the servers of a certain website hosting company. This way, you've got both your site and your emails handled by the same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there is a variety of other records, like A and MX. The former shows which server deals with the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter indicates which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, any time you enter a domain address in your Internet browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you may be sent to the servers of another company provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the website and the e-mails suggests that you may have your site and your emails with 2 different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with each and every Linux cloud hosting which we offer you, will allow you to see, modify and create A and MX records for any Internet domain or subdomain within your account. Through the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to view a list of all hosts in the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update is not going to take you more than a few mouse clicks. Creating new records is just as easy if, for example, you want to use the email services of a different provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2. You can even set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. To put it differently, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it will contact the next one. Using our advanced tool, you are going to be able to manage the records of your domain addresses and subdomains effortlessly even though you may have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with our semi-dedicated hosting, will allow you to view the A and MX records for each of the domains or subdomains in your account and if needed, to change any of them or create new ones. Controlling these records is very easy as all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so editing a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes only a few more clicks and if you experience any difficulties, you can check out our educational videos on how to create A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet advanced enough to give you complete control over all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you are switching your emails to a different service provider and they ask you to set up more than two different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
